Vacancies

We welcome candidates of all backgrounds and experiences to apply. Our program values collaboration, creativity, and student growth through theater arts. Resumes should be sent to the program Director, Mrs. Kelsy Brookins ([email protected]), and the Athletic and Activities Director, Ms. Nina Rouse ([email protected]). Applications will be reviewed as they are received. Please allow for up to two weeks for follow up as it is summer break. 
Costume Designer
Create and coordinate visually effective costumes that reflect character, period, and production design while supporting student performance and safety. This role combines creative design, practical construction, and student mentorship.

Qualifications:
  • Proficient sewing skills and techniques to build costumes in-house
  • Ability to teach, model, and provide constructive feedback to student costumers
  • Ability to foster a positive, nurturing environment for students and team members
  • Execute clear communication to students, families, and team members
  • Demonstrate reliability, artistic skill and vision, attention to detail, and commitment to quality
  • Ability to creatively and logistically collaborate with team members and work towards a common unifying artistic vision​

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Prepare to costume the show and entire cast
    • Study the script; analyze costuming needs of the production
    • Create a costume plot and determine needs for each student
  • Lead student customers in design research, construction, and backstage readiness
  • Create, acquire, and/or coordinate costume pieces per character
    • Take and record student measurements and complete fittings
    • Research and reach out to other local schools and organizations who have recently produced the same or similar shows, to arrange local borrowing, rentals, or trades
    • Purchase pieces, fabric, etc. - Do not use own funds for reimbursement; things can be ordered online or a school credit card can be borrowed
    • Keep accurate records of costume pieces, rentals, and other budgeting
    • Create, alter, and/or coordinate all pieces 
  • Ensure costumes are and continue to be prepared for performances
    • Communicate with Technical Director to coordinate load-in plan for costumes for dressing rooms
    • Attend dress rehearsals and facilitate costume parade
  • Organize, strike, clean, return and sort out costumes following performances
    • Attend strike to organize costumes into home washing, dry cleaning, and immediate storage return
    • Ensure costumes are washed and coordinate dry cleaning with approved dry cleaning vendor
Vocal Music Director
Teaching, coaching, and directing the musical elements of the production in a positive, nurturing, and appropriately challenging way for our young performers to prepare them for a high-quality show. 

Qualifications:
  • Advanced musical skills, including leading small to large musical theatre vocal ensembles as well as individual vocal coaching - must read music, and some piano skills are required
  • Ability to foster a positive, nurturing environment for students and team members
  • Execute clear communication to students, families, and team members
  • Demonstrate reliability, artistic skill and vision, attention to detail, and commitment to quality
  • Ability to creatively and logistically collaborate with team members and work towards a common unifying artistic vision

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Prepare for production prior to auditions and rehearsals
    • Study the score; analyze musical needs of the production
    • Choose and prepare vocal selections for general auditions and callbacks for specific roles
  • Assist in auditioning and casting performers
    • Attend and take music notes during auditions and callbacks 
    • Provide musical opinions and decide next steps for all students after auditions and callbacks 
  • Lead music rehearsals, and provide musical guidance, resources, and direction through tech week
    • Work with Director to ensure clarity on which students/characters are called for which music rehearsals, who is singing in what numbers
    • Foster a positive, nurturing rehearsal environment where students are able to have educational experiences and artistic growth
    • Lead all music rehearsals using piano or tracks
    • Consult with Director and if applicable, Pit Director, to make musical/track adjustments when needed
    • Create additional resources, such as part tracks or rehearsal recordings, as needed
    • Attend tech rehearsals to run warm ups and take notes and provide feedback on musical elements
    • Attend performances to support vocal warm ups and any last minute adjustments

Additional Information:
​Rehearsals start in September and go through mid-November. We run rehearsals nightly Monday through Friday, with weekends reserved closer to the show if needed. Team members need to be available starting at 3pm until 5 or 6pm, depending on the day and determined rehearsal schedule. 

Greenfield Drama strives to provide a hands-on experience that allows students to take creative risks, fail, and try again in a safe environment while learning skills in leadership, safety, collaboration, and theater-specific skill and knowledge. Greenfield Drama is open to students with varying degrees of theater interest,  and we stress the importance of safety while working in the various locations in the theater space. The leaders and advisers of the program value teaching through hands-on experience for the students where the students are actively engaged in the process of mounting a production.
